If you’re trying get to the next level in your business but can’t, you might have some blocks. From a branding photographer perspective, showing up in your brand is huge, but this usually comes with apprehension from businesses. Let’s unwrap the following common blocks to allow yourself to prosper more and worry less.
1. You can be humble and confident.
I used to think to be confident was to be arrogant. Lots of women in particular are brought up to be humble, but that doesn’t mean you can’t shine your light and show people about the amazing things you’re doing.
You’re not helping anybody else’s light by dimming your own.
It’s okay to show your charismatic and confident persona online.

2. If I put myself all over my website, on my social media feeds and stories, people will say, “Who does she think she is?”
I’ve heard this before so I’d like to address the fear that people are judging you when you show up throughout your brand. I even have clients who have these amazing photos for their small business and then don’t post them. The truth is… ready for this? It’s just not true. At least, not in the way that you think, but I’ll address that a little further down.
If anything, you are most likely inspiring some other women! Most women can get on board with inspiring other women, so when you think about it that way, you’re actually helping others by posting and putting yourself out there!
The interesting thing is, even as your scrolling and looking at the images of Tamara – a woodworking boss babe in San Antonio who isn’t afraid to play with the big boy toys – you are probably judging her.
Judgements don’t necessarily have to be negative. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary definition of Judgment is:
“The process of forming an opinion or evaluation by discerning and comparing.”
You are making “judgements” about her and may not even realize it!
What are some things you think about from looking at these images?
Think of some words you can describe her as. These are some that come to mind when I look at these images we created together:
Sweet
Confident
Dynamic
Stylish
Badass
Fun
Hardworking
Maybe you thought of some more! The point is, if I had just simply posted a headshot of her it doesn’t have quite the same visual effect. That’s why showing up as a brand is so important!
What happens when you show up consistently for your audience?
Bottom line, your community will choose you because they feel trust there. You may still be feeling apprehensive, and that’s fine! Maybe start by doing a Friday introduction every other week on your social media feeds. Eventually, show up on every page on your website.
