Let me start out by saying I am not a super yogi, instructor, or yoga expert. What I can say is that yoga has helped me both personally and with my business. It’s a great way to start your day, and I try to do it at least 3 times per week.
If there’s anything the military taught me, it’s that it’s important to be balanced. We are taught to be mentally, physically, spiritually, and socially balanced; without it we can’t be resilient in our social or professional lives. And one always bleeds into the other if they’re not taken care of.
I have to be honest, I never worked out before I joined active duty, but I’ve grown to love the benefits over the life of my military career. It keeps me focused and a lot of times gets me ready to start my day. I got heavily into P90X3 (which, for those who don’t know the series, is the lighter, 30 min version of P90X) after my daughter was born to get me back into shape. It was super beneficial, but I’ve recently been using the spiritual and mental benefits of yoga to counter act all the jumping and heavy workouts the rest of the time.
I suggest everyone has a good workout, no matter what they choose, at least 3 times per week, it will keep you going, energize you, and motivate you for your next adventure!
